The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart: we celebrate life in the ministries of liturgical celebration, faith formation and service to our Lord, Jesus Christ.
The establishment of Salisbury Vicariate in 1931 enabled a more coherent allocation of responsibilities. The Cathedral Parish of the Sacred Heart had by the beginning of Second World War effectively shrunk to an area best described as greater Salisbury.
In 2007 Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral commissioned artist John Collier to design and create bronze statues of the Annunciation and the Tree of Life with the Crucified Christ. In 2008 the “Annunciation Statue” and “Tree of Life Statue” were installed in the Gardens in front of the Church.

Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart A History in Tandem With Houston By 1890, Houston's population was a just a little over 27,500, land for the Port of Houston had formally been acquired, and during the years that followed Houston saw its first electric streetcars and electricity flowed through much of the downtown area (though air conditioning was still a ways to come).
Sacred Heart Parish was established in 1879. Ground was broken for the present church building in 1922, and it was completed two years later. Later in 1924 the Apostolic Vicariate of North Carolina was elevated to the Diocese of Raleigh, and Sacred Heart Church became the diocesan cathedral.
